Luz Arcas' work with La Pharmaco moves away from the commonplaces of contemporary dance, its protocols, and conventions. She uses the word "dancing", as opposed to "dance", to refer to her way of being on stage. It is inspired by folklore and the collective imagination, to connect with instinctive, primal forces.
To dance, to lose one's identity, to dissolve in movement: in the trance, the rage, the wound, in the feast of memory. That is the basis of this choreographer who transports us to landscapes full of a complex and contradictory vitality, where the body is re-meaning between the archaic and the experimental.
